Assembling of the Yamakasa frame:
The assembling of the Yamaksa frame starts with a ceremony in front of the main parts of the Yamakasa. Depending on if it is a Kakiyama or Kazariyama, that is being built, this is either inside a workshop or already at the location, where the Kazariyama is going to be on diplay.
After the ceremony, the frame is assembled using only wood and rope. Not a single nail is used during constriction.
The workshops used to have a sign over the entrance saying “not entry for unclean people”, with which women were meant. Since 2003 there are no more such signs.
