An overview of the main events
The last Nagaregaki (14th of July)
The final Nagaregaki on the day before the end of the festival.
Twelve hours before the start of the Oiyama another Nagaregaki is held within five of Hakatas seven districts.
The last possibility for adjustment before the Oiyama.
The two weeks of the Yamakasa are coming to an end. Use the chance to visit all the special places and see the spectacular sights before the grand finale the day afterwords.
This is the last chance this year for young, aspiring carriers to gather experience. Even though they are very tired, they complete the whole course multiple times.
In addition it is the last possibility for the carriers for the Oiyama to be changed out. In the 10 hours between the Nagaregaki and the Oiyama the tension and anticipation in all of Hakata grows by the minute. This time is called the quiet before the festival.
