Kenjō-gara

Hakata silk pattern:
This pattern was used by Hakatas famous textile industry and originated from a piece of buddhis altar equipment.
Because the Kuroda-clan, when it was in control over Hakata in the 17th century, made a large offering to the shogunate consiting of Hakata textile with this pattern, it came to be known as the Hakata-pattern.
