The Oshioitori:
The Oishioitori is the first event of the festival. It is held both at the 1st and the 9th of July. The first time only one district participates, while the second time all districts join in. During the event all the paricipants wear the traditional white vest and loin cloth and go to Hakozaki-beach to pray for the safety of the festival.
They also take some sand from the beach with them in order to hang it on their door for luck and safety during the festival period.
