Headbands:
The Hakata specific pronuciation for this is Tenogoi, while it is pronounced Tenugui in the rest of Japan. The wound up towel as headband is a part of the traditional wear of the participants.
However you will soon notice that there are several different types of headbands all with different colors, marking the wearer as having a specific role in the management of the festival.
