Carrying pole:
A Kakiyama is carried by over 30 men, all holding it by one of its 6 carrying poles. These are fixed to the frame with tightly knotted hemp rope and are reused from year to year.
The outer two are named “first poles”, the next two “second poles” and the middle two “third poles”.
