The water vests:
These vests are worn only to the carrying of the Kakiyama.
They are made of cotton, are mostly white and decorated around the sides with patterns specific to each district. For safety reasons the vest is always tied tightly toghether.
Originally the Kakiyama were run in only loin cloth, but near the end of the 19th century the water vests were inroduced. For the site about the traditional wear click [here
