Yamaksa Dictionary

Cleansing ceremony of the place of the Yamakasa:
Ceremony, that is held on the 1st of July in order to cleanse the location, where the Yamakasa will be built. The ceremony is held by each district individually and involves a priest praying with the festivals participants before a minimalistic altar, decorated with leaves.
The priest also waves a broomlike stick with folded paper on the end and throws paper into the air as part of the ritual.
