Everything about the Yamakasa and their districts
This relatively small district is orientated along the Doi-road, along which the Kushida-shrine is located.
Doi-nagare is proud of its old history and has been in the past. As in 1966 there was a reorganisation project by city officials, in order to change the district boundaries from street orientated to block orientated, the districts were discontinued and organisation happened on a city-block level. It was Doi-nagares inhabitants, that complained the most about the change and founded the “Doi-nagare Preservation Society”. Thanks to them Hakatas old districts were reused, though the cities organisation by block is still the official division.
These blocks also are often differentiated between with different styles of water vests indicating which sub-district the participant came from.
